Adam Meyer was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, and started sailing when he was six years old. That started a love affair with boats that he has carried with him ever since. Adam raced Hobie Cats competitively in high school, and later started the sailing team while attending Wake Forest University. He completed numerous bluewater sailboat deliveries throughout college and into his law school days, logging over 25,000 offshore miles taking boats to the Caribbean.

In 2000, Adam moved back home to North Carolina, to start work on the Agency side of the niche as a Producer of Marine Insurance.
